FISH FARMING
Fish farming activities are governed by strict regulations in order to guarantee a high-quality product produced in an environmentally sustainable way. The fishes feeding is meticulously steered by the latest technology, warranting minimal environmental impact. We use low phosphorus feed to further reduce the environmental impact.
We farm our rainbow trout on three different locations. Our largest unit is located approximately 20 km south of Loviisa, in the very outskirts of the archipelago. During the winter the fish is moved closer to the shoreline.
Feed storage, maintenance areas, 30 m3 tank for biodiesel raw material, automatic feeding plants, automatic feedingboat m / s Waldi and the work boat m / s Wilma.

Ab Semilax Oy, founded in 1989 by the couple Robert and Nan Hindsberg, is run from the Valkom harbor in Loviisa. A long history and a continuous and determined development of the company has made Semilax Oy Ab a well-known and highly reputed player within the fish industry.
The company’s first years were challenging. Robert Hindsberg began as a professional fisherman and fish farmer in the mid-1980s. During the night, Baltic herring was trawled, which then was turned into fish feed during the early hours, then to be fed to the rainbow trout’s the following morning.
The farming methods has over the years evolved dramatically, starting from the feed to the feeding techniques. As a result, we have today product of a highwer quality, simultaneously as the environmental impact has significantly decreased.
Ab Semilax Oy is the only fish farm operator focusing on farming fish for the end consumer in the Uusimaa region. We can offer exclusive, locally farmed fish to the Helsinki, Lahti, Kouvola and Kotka regions. All within a radius of 100 km.
